2009 Fur Ball to be Held at Sleepy Hollow
Black tie event to benefit construction of new Putnam Animal Relief Center
Hurricane, W.Va. - Mark your calendars, because the date, time and location are now set for the Putnam Animal Relief Center Fund 2009 Fur Ball.
The black tie event will be held Saturday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Sleepy Hollow Golf Club ballroom in Hurricane. All proceeds will go toward the construction of a desperately needed new Putnam Animal Relief Center.
“We are excited to have our date and location determined for 2009,” states Jeff Barnes, chairman of the Putnam Animal Relief Center Fund. “We are currently working on some very special entertainment and guests to be a part of next January’s event.”
Last January’s event brought in more than $30,000, and currently the campaign is approaching $90,000 in total funds toward construction.
“We are trying very hard to make this dream a reality within the next 12 months,” states Barnes. “Final construction costs are estimated to come in at, or near, $400,000. We will place construction out for bid next year, and our objective is to use a local or regional contractor to support the local economy. We also believe a local or regional company will take more ownership in this project as it represents helping the quality of life in an area where they and their families live.”
Barnes credits corporate sponsors, attendees and especially hard working volunteers like Karen Haynes, as the reason last year’s event was so successful.
“I don’t know what I would do without the support and efforts of Karen,” states Barnes. “She works everyday to help make Putnam County a better place to live. We need more individuals like her to help us make this shelter a reality very soon.”
Barnes indicates that more information, such as entertainment, special guests, corporate sponsorship opportunities and individual ticket prices, will be released soon.
Additionally, donations are happily received at:

Glad to see others involved in rescuing animals. I can’t even say how many dogs Jacqui has found at foreclosed homes, just abandoned there.

One of our two dogs was left behind when his family moved. I’m thankful to have him, but too many don’t get a second chance.
