Lysa, that pup hiding behind the leg was the last of it's litter to be adopted. I was there when they were brought in and that was the one I liked, what a sweet face! I was so surprised when it was the last one still there, but it did get a home!

Rebecca, I'm glad to hear they were so caring with your sweet doggie! I'm sorry he was hit, but what a good testimony of the kindness of the shelter employees. I'm glad you mentioned the donations -- they also are always in need of newspapers, it's a great way to recycle! (And doggie treats and kitty toys are a rare treat!)

I can't even imagine getting a "furkid" anywhere else. Our dog was on the way to be dropped off at the pound when my husband's friend stopped by our house to see if we would take him, instead. How could we say "no?" Unfortunately, he was hit by a car 5 years later, and it was the Roane County Animal Shelter employees who lovingly wrapped his body up and contacted us so we could pick him up and give him a proper doggy funeral. They were so sweet to us all at such a difficult time. Whenever we decide to get another dog, we'll definitely go there.

Animal shelters also take donations of clean sheets and towels, by the way, as well as pet food and toys. They are always in need of these things.
