Chad Pennington, Comeback Player of the Year
Chad Pennington has won The Associated Press 2008 NFL Comeback Player of the Year award for the second time in the last three years!
The picture above is from the First Annual Randy Moss Links for Learning held last June at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course. Chad was running late but I couldn’t resist and had to ask for a photo. He told his caddy to hold on and took a moment to pose and speak to me before racing off. Nice guy!
In fact, I’m never surprised to hear of his teammates singing his praises. If you live around here, it’s likely you’ve heard a lot of stories about Chad. I know I have, and the one running theme through them all is that he’s a NICE guy. My Mom lives in his hometown of Knoxville, TN and she tells me the same thing - many stories, all totally impressed with him. It’s easy to find reports of his teammates bragging for him (because he won’t) or how the Dolphins have come together around him, in spite of the awkward timing involved with his joining them just before their first pre-season game.
He won the Comeback Player of the Year (again!) for proving yet again that he’s not done yet, and he certainly deserves it. Since his name is associated so closely with our area, I’m proud to see that he leads with grace and doesn’t seem to let success change him.
Congratulations, Chad!
