I have a new Flip video camera and an account a Mixpo (a video editing service) that was a gift from Active Rain, another blogging platform I use. They asked me to test them out and report my findings to the other members there.

What I’m really wondering is do blog readers even like video? Or do they just want to read?

Any feedback you might like to share would be appreciated SO MUCH.

Thank you!

Sarah, I think it can be a very positive thing for your website. I saw a series of videos from Hawaii. Lost it for now, but if you are interested I’ll stop back and let you know who it is on YouTube. She is an IT person, I believe and excellent video series (I thought so anyway.)

Sarah, your video is very well done!

  3. Missy Caulk Says:

Yes, if they are short, 10 minute videos just are too boring. Did you read Dustin’s on Ar this morning? It was good.

  4. Chris Hyde Says:

As already stated, I think short videos are the way to go. Yes, people love them. It brings you to life and it brings your community to life. We are a visual culture and I think this is the future of blogging!

  5. Dale Chumbley Says:

I think that the short videos are very effective. Brings the users into your world with a whole new picture of you and your voice.

I’ve been told that I should consider doing more of a vlog instead of blog. Keep the videos coming!

  6. Jack Boardman Says:

I guess my opinion is in line with the others - videos are more effective if they’re relatively short.

Vlogging is fun! I used to do that but quit because it was a pain! But it was fun and I got good feedback from it.

Keep ‘em short… about 3-4 minutes, max, and mix it up with text posts. Some people don’t watch videos when they’re at work but want to keep up with you, nonetheless. :)

  8. David Small Says:

Count me in with the rest. As long as they are short. I lose my attention span if they get to be over 3 minutes.

  9. Matthew Rathbun Says:

I like video! Reading makes my brain hurt… Good quality and a good length of time (short).

I love our flip cam! I also enjoy the occasional vlog, and I plan on posting more myself.

    Nice video, by the way!

Personally I love when video is incorporated into blogs. I am an avid blog reader and to have the excape from reading to view a short video is very appealing to me, not to mention an effective way to get your message across.

    Great job!

I like a blog that has a good mix of both (text & video). I think it’s rare that a blogger can keep you entertained with their simple text, so the video helps leverage your enthusiasm.

But you always have great things to say Sarah. With you it’s always entertaining :D And I’m not just saying that as fluff or to blow smoke. It’s true. So in this case, I think the video will only elevate your reader’s enthusiasm. It’s pretty neat to match a name with a face with an author. Get what I mean?
