Drug Testing at Putnam County Schools?
Quite possibly, yes.
At the last Putnam County Board of Education meeting, the Drug Endangered Children Task Force proposed a program to drug test children in our schools. This is an opt-in program, meaning that for your child to be tested, you will have to sign up saying you’d like your child to be tested.
Each week, a few students enrolled in the program would be tested. A negative test result would earn the student an incentive of some kind. With a positive test, the child would undergo more testing.
Plans include education about the program in fourth and fifth grade with testing taking place at the Middle and High School levels.
