Get Your “School’s Closed” Alerts
WSAZ.com has a new feature that emails school closings directly to your inbox. I thought that was really nice, but I’m up early anyway and thought I’d just check in for myself.
This morning with our flood watches, I realize how this service could help me. I’ve been caught unaware by early school dismissals before. Aha! They’ll even send alerts directly to your cell phone if you like.
Hint: Be sure to sign up separately for each school and for the county, just in case! You must fill out an alert request for each school you’d like to monitor. They’ll send you an email to verify that you do indeed want to be sent alerts and that they have the right email address. Simply click on the link in the email and you’re all set.
Off to sign up so that I’m not out of touch just because I’m at work or away from the computer. Thank you, WSAZ.

Capitol Nannies, which is a local nanny service, will send text messages and emails to their clients and nannies notifying them of school closings and early dismissals.
