I Voted! And You Can, Too!
Early voting in Putnam County has been all over the local and national news. I’m a big fan of voting early and I love our beautiful courthouse, so yesterday I took advantage of our early voting program.
It’s incredibly easy. If you’re a registered voter, just show up at the courthouse during their voting hours, go upstairs and down the hallway. Show your driver’s license to the nice volunteers and wait your turn. (I’ve never had a long wait during early voting, but I can’t say for sure, maybe I’ve just been lucky. This time it took a total of about 15 minutes.)
A volunteer will explain the use of the machines. You just touch the boxes on the screen to cast your vote. Make sure your vote is correct before you touch to the next page. A side window will print the votes you’ve cast so far so you can double check. At the end of the ballot, you’ll be asked again if your votes are correct. (All of mine were.) Then you touch one more button to cast your vote and watch your candidates’ names scroll by once more in that side window. The machine and side window will clear to be ready for the next person, and you’ve done your civic duty.
If you’d like to vote early in Putnam County, the courthouse voting hours are:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 8:00 - 4:00
- Thursday: 8:00 - 7:00
- Saturday October 25th and November 1st: 9:00 - 5:00
Our early voting means there is NO excuse not to vote! Please show your pride for Putnam County by making your vote count this election.
