Little Victories is Looking for Volunteers
My younger daughter and I will be volunteering to help keep a dog “socialized” at Little Victories Animal Rescue. I’m grateful to have found a way to volunteer my time that also helps me spend time with my quickly growing child.
Here are more details from Beth Rankin:
“Many of the dogs who arrive at Little Victories have been abandoned, neglected or mistreated and exhibit some behaviors that would improve dramatically if they had some one-on-one training. We call this socialization, because it will teach these dogs to be sociable in a family setting.
The work is highly rewarding, helping these dogs become more adoptable and helping them move on out to their forever homes. However, to be effective, it means that anyone who wants to be involved must make a time commitment that is very important. We feel that in order to be a wonderful training tool, socialization must be at least 2 hours a week and we ask that you commit to a minumum of 3 months or until the dog you are working with is adopted.”
I semi-jokingly told my daughter that this isn’t a bad idea they’ve got going — how hard would it be to part with a dog we’ve spent so much time with? Maybe they want us to take it home? She thought about it for a minute and said, “Can we socialize Jenny?” Ahh, she’s already got a favorite!
Orientation for volunteers is this Saturday, March 14th at 10:00 AM. If you’d like to help, please contact the socialization coordinator, Jenn Brooks, at jbrooks0703@comcast.net.

We recently took a Catahoula dog that was a stray and fell in love with him. Upon finding him an excellent home, with two little girls who sleep with him, it broke our hearts to let him go, but very rewarding that we were able to do it. Good for you!
