Local Support for Run For The Wall XXI

May 13, 2009, Run for the Wall XXI riders will begin a cross country ride from Los Angeles, CA. On Wednesday, May 20th at about 5:00 PM, these riders are expected to stop in Valley Park in Hurricane. The next morning, after a breakfast served by volunteers, the riders will make their way to the WV Veteran’s Memorial on the Capitol grounds. Please feel free to welcome the riders in Hurricane or Charleston to show your support and wish them well on their trip.

These riders are traveling at their own expense and often put over 5,800 miles on their bikes for the trip. It is awe inspiring to see such a large group working together. Their Mission Statement says it best:

Mission Statement: To promote healing among ALL veterans and their families and friends, to call for an accounting of all Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action (POW/MIA), to honor the memory of those Killed in Action (KIA) from all wars, and to support our military personnel all over the world.

They’ll continue onward to arrive in Washington, DC on May 22nd, and on May 24th will be joined by riders from across the country to become Rolling Thunder XXII and form a Welcome Home/We Have Not Forgotten Parade from the Pentagon to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC.

The Wall

We have not forgotten, and we miss you still. Thank you to the members of Run for the Wall and Rolling Thunder, for keeping memories alive and showing such care for our veterans.

I know some members of this organization in Lynchburg Va and they are some stand up folks! It was so cool when they welcomed my son’s company home 2 years ago. They make themselves available at every event possible that promotes the veterans cause. Yes, they are very inspirational. You would have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by the sound of the thunder when they ride through town.

I can’t wait to see them tonight - I’m sure I’ll have pictures to share. :)
