The Putnam Scoop

Are you new in Putnam County?  Wondering how to meet people and make friends?  Maybe you’ve lived here for some time (your whole life even!) but just want a fun new way to connect and socialize.  Here’s a fun solution for you – the Newcomers & Neighbors Club.

The Newcomers & Neighbors Club meets the second Wednesday of each month at Sleep Hollow Golf Club at 10:00 AM.  (However the meeting for January 2008 will be on the third Wednesday.)  Babysitting is available at Little Life Preschool & Daycare.  RSVP by calling Sarah DeGroff at 562-6040 by the Thursday before the meeting.  Babysitting is paid for by bringing a can of food per child for the local Community Cupboard.  (No additional fee is charged.)

Love to read?  The Book Discussion Group meets the second Thursday of each month at the Putnam County Library in Meeting Room A at 10:00.  This month’s meeting is January 10^th and the book is Beach Music by Pat Conroy.  Next month’s selection is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.  For more info on the Book Discussion Group, contact Janet Winans at 757-3008.

Newcomers & Neighbors will meet for bowling on January 14^th at Town & Country Lanes in Nitro.  They don’t care if you’re good or not, this is about having FUN.  Go!  Call Diane Howell at 757-3997 for details.

Ladie’s Coffee will meet at Tim Horton’s on Monday January 28^th.  Call Sarah DeGroff at 562-6040 if you need to reserve babysitting or want more information.

Golf will be gearing up again in the spring!  Call Linda Roland at 586-0167 for details.
