Putnam Bloggers Meet!
I finally had a chance to meet Jason Keeling of A Better West Virginia this week. I’ve been a fan of his blog for ages and love that he’s all about sending out a positive message about
I have friends online who know only one person from
Jason and I mainly talked about how people connect online. That’s what his business is all about, and it’s something that I have a lot of fun with. I really didn’t think I’d be any kind of help to him because I just don’t take it “seriously”. I’ve made contacts online and gathered business from it, but to me it all seems like a happy accident. Maybe I’m just playing with the right people.
We talked about local bloggers we admire (any ears burning out there?) and even some national ones that are great examples of local content done right. We talked about popular online networks. He was surprised I quit Facebook. (Why are people always surprised about that?) He suggested it was best to at least have a presence in different areas because you just don’t know. He’s right, I know. I tend to just hang out where I like to play.
We are both in Twitter, where he maintains a dignified presence and I go around MWA’ing people left and right. (That’s a cyber kiss, so there’s no confusion.) The internet is my playground but for Jason it’s the working world. I think we could both probably learn a little from the other. If you’d like to meet up with Jason there, follow him at @JasonKeeling. Easy, huh?
He asked me if I’d contribute a little to his blog and I really hope to in the future, if I have something that is a fit for it. That was a surprise and an honor — hope I’m worthy!!
Jason, it was very nice meeting you! Hope to see you again soon!

It’s nice to see the “real people” in Twitter World. In Michigan Ann Arbor is the Twitter capital…Grand Rapids is playing major catch-up, or at least trying to.

SOOO cool. Twitter has been just as good as Flickr for meeting local people and then finding their blogs.

Coolness! We should have a great big area blogger meetup! The Charleston Bloggers have tried to do it but nobody ever shows up!
My husband had Jason as a student at Winfield!

It was great to meet Sarah Cooper! Our talk re-affirmed my belief that blogging will emerge as one of the best methods for promoting West Virginia’s places, people, and culture. The Putnam Scoop is a great example of such, and I look forward to meeting other area bloggers like Rebecca Burch in the near future.
It’s exciting to realize the Web gives us the opportunity to be “ambassadors” for the areas in which we reside.

That is so cool. I have met soooo many great people (Sarah Girl) from blogging and social networking. I would also like to take it to the next leve like you have and meet a few local bloggers.
I’m always hearing of these “meet-ups” a number of new blogging friends have organized, however I have not had the opportunity to attend as I live too far away.
Way to go Sarah. Have fun!
