See How Easy It Is to Help Someone?

See How Easy It Is To Give Blood?I gave blood this week. It didn’t take much of my time and it was easy to do. See how easy? >>> Piece of cake!

I have so many reasons that I give blood, and all of them are people. I have a couple friends with breast cancer who are sharing their battles publicly, and I know many survivors. (Thankfully!) A high school friend is Dancing with NED after fighting back hard against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I recently lost my Uncle to cancer. A good friend’s Mom needs blood regularly, her body is too frail to make it for herself anymore. Another friend will be celebrating 10 years done with chemo this summer.  Could anything be sweeter than that?

That’s just my list. I’m sure you have one, too. If you’ve ever felt helpless and wanted to do something to make it better, go to the next blood drive and donate.

As advanced as science and medicine has become, there is still no substitute for human blood. The only way it gets to the people who need it is if we give it. I am healthy and thankful, and I will make more. When I give, I know I am helping people just like my loved ones, or yours. Giving once can save up to three lives. How could I not?

The next local blood drive for the American Red Cross will be at:

Catholic Church of the Ascenseion
905 Hickory Mill Road
Hurricane WV 25526

From 1:00 to 6:00 Friday March 21, 2008.

They’ll even give you a T-shirt. Time to give for someone you love.
