The Corn Maize at Milton
It’s that time of year again, we’re sleeping with the windows open, putting pumpkins on the front porch and tracking our weekend days by football games. (Friday = high school, Saturday means college and stop the presses on Sunday for the NFL!)
Fall in our area also means the Corn Maize at Milton. Park behind the Milton Middle School and either follow the gravel road back to the Cooper Farm or wait for the tractor to give you a lift. You’ll be asked to sign in and make note of the time, then choose a trivia category for hints. At 10 points throughout the maze, you’ll be asked to stop and check your questions. Depending on your answer, you’ll know whether you should turn right or left — so nice to have a hint after a while! Also pay attention to the pictures at each of these stops, if you can remember what they all were at the end you can enter a drawing. (I had my camera with me, just sayin’.)
Wear comfy shoes and if it’s rained at all lately, bring a spare pair so you don’t have to wear the muddy ones home. Trust me on this!
If you’re especially daring, try their “Field of Screams” Haunted Maize on October 24th, 25th and 31st and November 1st. They’ll shut down the Maize before dusk to set up, then reopen after dark.
The Corn Maize is owned by Kim and Joyce Cooper. If you want to check to see if the Maize is open in questionable weather, you can call them at 634-MAZE.
